Requirements
Age—11-12 years
11-12 USA Swimming 1 FW or 3 11-12 Age Group Championship Qualifying Times
Complete 8 x 100 Free @ 1:30
Complete 3 x 200 IM @ 3:30
Complete 600 Kick under 11:00
Tight Streamlines
4 Dolphin Kicks off walls for Fly/Back; 2 Dolphin Kick off walls for Free
Able to maintain breathing patterns in Fly/Free
Committed to attending Championship Meet for season
Show leadership skills; listen and be attentive to coaches

Introduction to Dryland (movement games, jump rope, dynamic warm up)
Swimmer participates in multiple sports/activities
Introduced to scheduled dryland practices (core, balance, coordination, etc)
Attendance and Participation
Swimmers are expected to attend a minimum of 80% of practices.
Swimmers must participate in meets listed on the group’s schedule. Any swimmers who cannot attend a listed meet should communicate with the coach.
Swimmers are not allowed to participate in meets not listed on the meet schedule without coach approval.
Skills Taught
Understands Drill Progressions for each stroke
Can apply breathing patterns during practice/races
Can perform 5 underwater dolphin kicks off wall during practices and sets
Understands stroke counts for all 4 strokes (19 or less for free and back/12 or less for breast and fly)
Can perform legal 200 IM including turns
Can perform relay exchanges
Can calculate times by reading the clock
Swimmer and Parent Education
2-3 x group parent meetings per year
Understands importance of Group Warm-up/Warm Down
Swimmer communicates with coaches
Understands how to use SwimConnection/FastSwims
Character Development/Life Skills
Swimmer improving at time management (Homework, friends, etc)
During practice the swimmer will: start on time, finish at the wall, follow directions, complete entire set
The swimmer learns basic race strategies, breathing patterns
Swimmers introduced to 9 Core Values of the First Tee program and talk about them monthly Written Goal Setting classroom sessions with coaches
Understands the role of Long Term Athlete Development and how success and failure are part of the learning process
Learning to focus on what is important and what is not (basic concept of concentration)
